Obituary of Bonnie Jean Brewer

Please share a memory of Bonnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Bonnie Jean Brewer announces her passing on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Bonnie passed away peacefully in Fredericton, NB, held in the arms of her devoted husband, Malcolm, and surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of love and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her friends and the many lives she touched.

Born on March 1, 1949, in Barkers Point, New Brunswick, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Charles and Elva (McLean) Jordan. She grew up as part of a large and deeply loving family on McKay Drive—a home she remembered fondly for its open-door policy, where there was always room for one more at the table. Bonnie was a devoted sister to Joan Jewett, Ken Jordan (Paula), Debbie Kitchen (Marvin), Wendy Clair, Marilyn Wall, Carolyn Campbell, Wanda Carr (Keith), and Anne-Marie Schriver (Allison), as well as her "sister by choice," Judy Jordan. She was reunited in peace with her parents; her infant sister, Heather; her brother, Royden; and her brothers-in-law, Leo, Joe, Emmerson, Roddy, and Scott.

Bonnie was the heart of her home and family. In 59 years of marriage to her husband, Malcolm, she fostered a supportive and joyful upbringing for her children: Wanda Brown (Kim), Jamie Brewer (Velvet), and Amy Boyer (Michel). Her greatest joy, however, was found in her role as a doting grandmother to Tom, Kelsey, Emily, Dan, Chloe, and Molly. With an infectious laugh that could fill any room, Bonnie was the ultimate fun-loving grandmother. Her energy was truly unmatched; she lived to create joy and mischief in equal measure. Whether she was splashing in muddy puddles or building the perfect snowman, she never missed a chance to play. Her grandchildren will forever cherish memories of beachcombing for sand dollars and her legendary "burnt pancake" breakfasts after sleepovers.

Bonnie possessed a remarkable gift for friendship and a social life that was truly vibrant. She was rarely still and always in the best of company. She thoroughly enjoyed her "boutique-ing" adventures with Bev, leisurely lunches at the Carnation restaurant with Judy, and the lively Saturday morning Breakfast Club with Haifa and various family members. These women were far more than friends; they were her "chosen family" who provided her with immense joy and lifelong companionship.

This past fall, Bonnie was deeply honored to be invited into a specialized research program for Parkinson’s at the UNB Center for Adaptive Rehabilitation Engineering (CARE). Though she was unable to complete the full term, she took immense pride in her participation. The time she spent with the team was incredibly meaningful to her, providing both physical benefit and a renewed sense of purpose.

Known for her generous heart and selfless nature, Bonnie was a pillar of strength who always put her family first. She faced life’s hurdles with remarkable courage and an unshakable sense of dignity. A woman of deep faith, she left a lasting legacy by instilling the importance of character and the value of hard work in her children. She was a true role model, and her influence will continue to shape our lives for generations to come.

There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2 pm with Rev. Stephen Hoyt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Adaptive Rehabilitation Engineering (CARE) at UNB, Parkinson Canada, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
