The family of Gladys “Eva” Garnier of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Ernest “Ernie” John Garnier, are saddened to announce her unexpected passing, which occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Born on June 14, 1946 in Steeves Mountain, NB, she was the daughter of the late Zenas and Dollie (Hicks) Steeves.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Eric Garnier (Wendy) of Carter's Point, NB and Jason Garnier of Fredericton, NB; her grandsons, Ethan, Angus and Mason; sisters, Nita Steeves of Steeves Mountain, NB and Stella (Art) Quartermain of Fredericton, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Steeves; and her brothers, Reilly Steeves, Reid Steeves, Allen Steeves, and Raymond Steeves.

Eva dedicated much of her professional life to working as a secretary for the Oromocto school district. Summers were cherished times spent camping and boating with her family, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.

Among her greatest adventures were the four years she and Ernie spent living in Germany, a time filled with discovery as they journeyed across borders, exploring vibrant cities, historic landmarks, and the diverse cultures of Europe together.

In retirement, Eva found joy in spoiling her three grandsons during summer visits to Grand Lake and escaping to Florida for peaceful, sun-filled winters. Her life was rich with love, laughter, and unforgettable experiences.

A Celebration of Life will be held in York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11 am with Rev.
