Obituary of Ruthene Doris Storey

Storey, Ruthene Doris

The passing of Ruthene Doris Storey of New Bandon, New Brunswick, wife of the late Lawrence “Winston” Churchill Storey, occurred on January 13, 2026, at York Care Centre. Born on December 27, 1946, in McNamee, New Brunswick, Ruthene was the daughter of the late Emma (O’Donnell) and the late Robert Miner.

Ruthene is lovingly remembered by her sons, Nick Storey of Fredericton, Brent Storey of Fredericton, and Jon Storey (Pamela) of Fredericton; her granddaughter, Shania (Xavier) St. Onge; grandsons, Jordan Storey, Cody Ballard (Tasha), and Adam Darrah; and her great-granddaughter, Madeline. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirley Mantha, Elma Duder, Ernest Miner (Brenda), and Diana Sherwood (Paul), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ruthene was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Schaufele, Georgina Price, Mae McGilligan, Jennie Stewart, Eileen Storey, and Inez Sutherland.

Ruthene was a cashier at local stores in New Bandon and actively involved in her community, contributing many years of volunteer service to the operation of the McNamee Recreation Center managing Bingo, (she loved BINGO) and numerous other organizations and events and always there for everyone. 

The family would like to thank the staff at York Care, Birch Grove for the excellent care and compassion shown to our mother during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the York care center, cancer society, Dementia research or Saint James Anglian Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of York Funeral Home, Miramichi Valley Chapel. Although there will be no services at this time, a Graveside Service will be held later in the spring at St. James the Greater Anglican Cemetery, Ludlow. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. James the Greater Anglican Cemetery.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
