Obituary of Shirley Bernice Gracie

Shirley Bernice Gracie (nee: Brewer) 

March 16, 1939 - January 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts our family announces the peaceful passing of Shirley Bernice Gracie of Zealand, New Brunswick, on January 10, 2026 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on March 16, 1939 in Zealand, New Brunswick,  she was the daughter of the late Kathleen Brewer (nee: Hanson) and Vernal Brewer. 

Those left to mourn her loss are her loving husband, of 61 years, John Gracie; her children, Tanya Wiseman (John) of Antigonish, Nyla Grant (Michael) of Crabbe Mountain, Michael Gracie of Zealand, Shone Gracie (Cynthia) of Rusagonis; her siblings, Nancy Durling, Betty Cook (Joe) and Joe Brewer (Brenda);  her grandchildren, Treicha Wiggins (Rob), Madison Gracie-Grant (Thomas), Evan Wiseman, Bethany Wiseman, Cage Gracie, Jenna Gracie, (Oliva, Orianna and Taylor Dobbelsteyn); her great grand-children, Valerie Wiggins and Zoey Gracie-Grant; she will be missed dearly by many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Shirley leaves this world to join her siblings, Scottie Brewer, Freddie Brewer, Reginald Brewer, Lester Brewer, Madeline Fletcher and Bonnie Betts.

She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who took great pride in her career, most notably through her many years of service at York Manor, where she was valued for her work as both a housekeeper and a cook. Her commitment, care, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses of 4SW and the dedicated physicians at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided during her time there.

As per Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In her memory, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
