Obituary of Esther Lucie Davies

It is with great sadness, the family announce the unexpected passing of Esther Lucie Davies of Fredericton, NB, beloved wife of Frederick “Wayne” Davies, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on February 10, 1950, in Basel, Switzerland, Esther was the cherished daughter of the late Kurt and Rosalie Wolfe. She later made Fredericton her home, where she built a life filled with compassion, quiet strength, and deep appreciation for the world around her.

Esther worked as a Tourism Guide for the City of Fredericton, a role well suited to her gentle spirit and love of sharing the beauty of her community with others. She had a profound connection with animals and often trusted them more than people; wildlife seemed to sense her kind nature, and birds would feed comfortably from the palm of her hand. Esther found joy in reading, treasured time spent outdoors, and in her younger years, loved skiing. Above all, Esther will be remembered for her warmth, her empathy, and the calm presence she offered to those fortunate enough to know her.

In addition to her devoted husband of 45 years, Esther is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Anne Davies; brother-in-law David Davies; nieces and nephews, Amy (Matt), Jenny (Oliver), Kelli (Clyde), Shayne (Laura) and their families; as well as her special friends, Barbara (Thomas), Sandra, Ellie and Joey, Wilma and Steve, and Claire, all of whom will deeply miss her gentle heart and quiet wisdom.

Esther’s Celebration of Life will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 2 – 4 pm.
