The passing of Wilfrid “Fred” Edward Bubar of Cross Creek, NB, occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born on May 5, 1945, in Fredericton, NB, Fred was the son of the late Edward and Fanny (Knight) Bubar. He was employed as a bodyworker with Lawsons, SMT, and Bamfords for many years. Fred was well known for his hardworking nature and generous spirit. In his spare time, he enjoyed kindling up for CARMA Cat Rescue and had a deep love for animals, especially his cats.

 

Fred is survived by his sister, Karen MacFarlane (Lloyd) of Fredericton; his brother, Eric Bubar of Stanley; and his chosen daughter, Misty Dupuis (late Jeff) of Cross Creek. He is also survived by his nieces, Daphne and Amy. Fred will be fondly remembered by his beloved cats, Dusk, Lucky, Boots, Chaos, Trouble, and Mischief; as well as his guinea pigs, Sugar and Spice.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. As per Fred’s request, there will be no visitation or service. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to CARMA Cat Rescue or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
