Wendell William Thomas
July 2, 1931 – January 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts our family announce the sudden passing of Wendell William Thomas of Fredericton, New Brunswick on January 5th, 2026 at his home. Born on July 2, 1931 in Cardigan, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Hazel Elizabeth (Evans) Thomas and William Edward Saunders Thomas.
Those left to mourn his loss are his children; Deborah Thomas (Zoran) of Saint John, Edward Thomas (Andrea) of Fredericton, Beverley Bolton (David) of Fredericton, Michael Thomas (Nancy) of Nashville; his sister, Betty Thomas of Cardigan; his grandchildren, Joshua (Julie) Thomas, Amanda (Bill) Bloom, Dusty (Lindsay) McSorley, Billy (Jensen) Thomas, Abby McSorley, Stephen (Betsy) Thomas, Jesse McSorley, Elisabeth (Martin) Stehouwer, Jacob (Sarah) Thomas, Rebekah (Matthew) Green, Peter (Caitlin) Thomas, Jennifer Petrovich and his brother-in-law, Dick Doak. He will be dearly missed by many beautiful great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Wendell leaves this world to join his loving wife of 55 years, Theresa Margaret Thomas, (nee: Shields) and his siblings, Glenwood and Shirley Thomas.
Wendell was ambitious from a very young age helping his father at the farm, pressing hay, milking cows, cutting trees, & ploughing fields. He is well known for his honest and hard work ethic.
Wendell and Theresa established roots and have been serving Fredericton area as Wendell Thomas & Sons for over 70 years. They joined the Nashwaaksis United Church nearly 70 years ago.
To honour Wendell’s Memory a visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, January 8th, 2026 from 1-3p.m. A service will start at 3p.m. with a reception to follow. A burial will take place in the spring at the North Cardigan United Church Cemetery.
