Obituary of Marilyn Doris Whynott

The family of Marilyn Doris Whynott of Fredericton, New Brunswick, sadly share the news of her passing at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital on January 2, 2026.  Marilyn was the wife of the late Allan Whynott.

Born on February 14, 1941, in Burtt's Corner, New Brunswick, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Evelyn (Crandall) Jones and Flavis Jones.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Kim Whynott (Wayne) of Woodstock; her son, Alden Whynott (Tracey) of Douglas; her grandsons, Corey Dickinson (Claire) of Florenceville, Matthew Dickinson (Michelle) of Fredericton, and Allan Whynott (Katie) of Douglas. She is also survived by her sister, Ginny Sargeson (Terry) of Burtt’s Corner; her sisters-in-law, Susan Jones, Terri Voros, and Sharon Cousley; her brother-in-law, Eldon Fowler; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Julia, Owen, Addilyn, Alainah, and Austin. Marilyn will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Allan, Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and Flavis Jones, and her sisters, Mavis Fowler and Myrna Jones, and brother Kyle Jones.

After completing high school Marilyn graduated from Business College in Fredericton.  She then worked at various companies including Atlantic Advocate, The Daily Gleaner, and Provincial Motor Sales before becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom.  In later years she worked as a housekeeper / nanny for a family in Fredericton before retiring.

The funeral service will take place at Burtt’s Corner Christian Church, 1021 Route 104, Burtt’s Corner, New Brunswick, on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Dan Foreman and Pastor Graham Crandall officiating. Interment will take place in Dorn Ridge Community Cemetery in the spring.

Marilyn was strong in her faith and a member of the Dorn Ridge Church of Christ and former member of Burtt's Corner Christian Church.  Family was very important to Marilyn and she enjoyed attending family events where everyone looked forward to her home cooking especially chocolate cake with boiled icing and coconut cream pie.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Eden's Retirement Villa where mom resided the past 8 years.  Also want to thank the staff of 4SE at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital who provided exceptional care and compassion during mom's final days.
