Obituary of David Aubrey MacNaughton

The passing of David “Dave” Aubrey MacNaughton of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on July 13, 1939 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Peter David and Audrey Leona (Boyd) MacNaughton. Dave worked for many years as a lineman, moving to Ontario in 1969 for work. He was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. Dave returned to New Brunswick just two years ago to enjoy his retirement, he enjoyed going to the trailer every weekend and taking his grandchildren fishing, playing horseshoes and darts, and spending time outdoors, enjoying leisurely rides on his golf cart.

Dave is survived by his children, Kelly Mulligan (Dave) of Fredericton, NB, Peter MacNaughton of PEI, and Wendy Smith of Fredericton, NB; his step-daughter, Rhonda Taylor (Dave) of Durham Bridge, NB and step-son, Ronnie Munn (Monique) of Hanwell, NB; his grandchildren, Dylan (Madison), Zachary, Chelsea (JT), CJ, Michelle, Angela, Matthew, Stacey, Shawn, Faith, Laura, Justin, Austin, Ashley and Ryan; his siblings, Keith MacNaughton (Nancy) of Fredericton, NB, Florence Baldwin (Hal) of Hanwell, NB, and John MacNaughton (Lynda) of Airdrie, AB; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his beloved partner, Barbara Symes; brother, Robert and sister, Frances.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 6 – 8 pm.  The memorial service will be held in York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel the following day at 2 pm with Mark Moir officiating and reception to follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Bloomfield Ridge United Cemetery at a later date.
