Obituary of Ethel Louise Woodcock

Please share a memory of Ethel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The passing of Ethel Louise Woodcock of Astle, NB, wife of William "Billy" Woodcock, occurred on December 25, 2025, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on November 3, 1948, in Astle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gladys (Green) and Horace Hunter. Ethel worked as a caregiver, for people and animals.

Ethel is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy Woodcock; son, Jamie Woodcock (Lisa); grandsons, Jesse and Jacob Woods; sisters, Valerie Jewett (Minard), Marilyn Wyton (William), Cora Taylor (Robert); and Lottie Price; sisters-in-law, Lottie Hunter, and Elsie Hunter; several nieces and nephews; honorary son, Ernie Lovely; and dearest friend, Gertie Fowler.

Ethel was the most selfless person anyone ever met with a heart as big as all outdoors.  She spent her days quite happy just being at home, looking after the people and animals she loved so much; this includes the love of her life, Billy.

If you wandered into the yard or the house you were getting fed whether you needed it or not; "sit" she would say, "have a cookie”, " you gotta eat".  There was always plenty to go around; seed for the birds; scraps for the fox; bread for the squirrels or maybe even carrots or apples for the deer who would come to meet her. Ethel loved the many strays that called her "grandma" with an extra special love for all her kitties.

She was greatly loved by all and dearly missed.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Allan Hunter (Frances), Arnold Hunter, and Leonard Hunter; baby sister, Arvella Hunter; sisters, Harriet Perley (Douglas), and Lorna Stewart (Wayne); and some nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Ethels request, there will be no services at this time. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
