Obituary of Robert Ian Murdoch

Rob lived hard and loved harder.  And those he loved knew it, felt it, and still do.

To say he was a hard worker would be an understatement.  There wasn’t anything he could not repair, and it was always accompanied by an educated explanation no one asked for.

The love of his life, Jane Gorman Murdoch, will miss those learning sessions.  Their marriage, not long enough, was unbreakable and strong enough.  “Us against the world” were their vows.

Along with Jane and his fur kids, Lennon and Sawyer; Rob is survived by his ever-supporting parents, and personal cheering section, Leona and Andrew Murdoch (Fredericton); big brother, Andrew Murdoch (Edmonton); mother-in-law, Donna Gorman (Fredericton); beautiful nieces, Domonique Murdoch (Kelowna), Simone Murdoch (Vancouver), Emelia McLaughlin and Lily McLaughlin (Fredericton). As well as many family members local and abroad.

Family was everything to Rob, and having his parents close by made his life complete and heart full. The brotherly bond could never be broken despite the distance. 

Lifelong friends, Mark MacDonald and Jerry Mitchell are left with a void that will be forever filled with mischievous stories, and memories.

Rob’s workplace band of misfits, too many to mention, but they know who they are, were an incredible crew who problem solved and watched out for each other.  Jane has been blessed to find out they are still watching out for her.

You can be certain the happiest of reunions has happened between Rob and his beloved first Shepherd, Skyler.  The best dog daddy, family-oriented guy and hardest worker will be forever in our hearts with the soundtrack being his wild laugh. Put the wrench down Murdoch, you deserve a rest. 

In keeping with Rob’s request there will be no visitation or service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fredericton SPCA.
