Dorothy Leigh Painter

October 7, 1940 – December 21, 2025

With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of Leigh (Dorothy) Painter on December 21, 2025, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, with family by her side. Born on October 7, 1940, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Thelma Pearl (McIntosh) Allen and Theodore Lewis Allen.

Those left to mourn her loss are her loving husband of 26 years, Gregory James Painter; her brother, Richard Allen (Margaret); her grandsons, Cory Hill, Rodrigo Rodrigues, Kaden Carter, and Drew Hill; her granddaughters, Robynne Eaton and Ashton Carter; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Eaton; and her son-in-law, Roy Carter. She will also be missed by her sisters-in-law, Barb Painter, Theresa Painter, Carol Ann (John), and Sandra Painter; her brothers-in-law, Chris Painter and Joe Painter; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Leigh leaves this world to join her daughter, Wendy Hill-Carter, and her son, William (Billy) Hill.

To honor Leigh’s memory, visitation will take place on Friday, December 26, 2025, at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Penniac United Cemetery in the spring.
