Obituary of Daniel Marc Fortier

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Daniel Marc Fortier on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Welland, ON, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Wendy (née Robson); his sons, Jay (Kelly) and Justin (Janine); and 4 grandchildren, Lennon, Myles, Everett and Etta – whom he adored with all his heart. He’s survived by his brother, Ron (Denise), and a large extended family in Quebec (Fortier et Morin); sister and brother in laws, Francine, Robert, Al (Marie), Elaine, Tim (Bernice), Jeff (Cathy), Jamie (Lorraine), Glenn (Pam) and the extended Robson family. Predeceased by infant daughter, Dana; parents, Jeannine Manquen (née Morin), Maurice Fortier; stepfather, Henry, and stepmother, Lillian ; mother and father-in-law, Conrad and Ellen Robson; step-sister, Jeannine, as well as his three brothers, Gaéten, Christian, and Denis. 

Dan understood the importance of community; he served many years on Welland City Council, Niagara Regional Council in Ontario, and Hanwell Council in New Brunswick.  He was a devoted volunteer over the years with Help a Child Smile, Habitat for Humanity, the Welland Humane Society; with his most recent work serving at the Fredericton Community Kitchen. Dan built strong ties within his communities and left a positive impact wherever he went.

Dan was a proud and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He could always be found caring for his family, including his fur babies Willow and Lady.  He was a great friend and neighbour, always offering a helping hand. Dan loved spending time at Yoho Lake – kayaking, walking the dog, and creating lasting memories with his family and friends. 

Visitation will take place in York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 11 – 1 pm. The Memorial Service will begin at 1 pm with Father Bill Brennan officiating. Reception will follow in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Community Kitchens or to Help a Child Smile. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
