Memory
Losing Danny is to lose my brother. I’ve known you since you’ve been 3 apples tall. Sharing a memory is sharing a lifetime of memories.
We were a trio with you and Richard Lapointe.
Best friends always.
I’ll miss you most.

He was such a pleasant, calm and cheerful fellow and we are greatful for how much he helped us out.
Sincerely, Jim and Lori King

I’m so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing.
Dan was an extremely conscientious person who served Hanwell Council with care and integrity. We bonded over shared experiences, and I came to deeply respect his passion for our riding, for elder care, and for environmental issues. He truly wanted to see meaningful change happen.
I am only just learning of this news and am saddened to hear it. Dan was someone who was always looking forward, always thinking about how things could be better.
My heartfelt condolences go to his beloved wife, whom he never missed an opportunity to speak about with pride and affection, to his children whom he loved dearly, and to our community, which has lost a thoughtful and reasoned voice.

Q: What will you never forget about Daniel?
A: Dan was a wonderful mentor to me when I worked with him as an insurance/investment agent from 1988 to 1992.
As well, my son and his both played on the same minor baseball team as pitchers so Dan and I met many times that way too.
| happened to run into him just this past summer at the Welland Farmers market and noted how he hadn't seemed to have aged very much at all since then.
I was surprised to learn he was actually 69 years old at his passing last month.
My heart goes out to Wendy and family.
Brian Price, Welland, Ontario.

My condolences to the family. I worked with Dan when he volunteered with the French community in welland as well as the self employment program. I last saw Dan this past summer. He mentioned his deep love for his wife and family and was living his best life and told us not to delay doing so.

I had the opportunity to spend time with Dan during visits to Jay and Kelly’s, and I always appreciated our conversations. He was genuinely interested in people, asking questions and wanting to learn more about others and their stories. We spoke about politics, economics, and everyday neighbourhood life.
I was saddened to hear of his passing, and my thoughts are with Wendy, Jay, Justin, and the entire family as they mourn their loss.

Q: How did you meet Daniel?
A: Dan and I met many years ago working at Prudential Insurance. Before the boys were born. Pool parties at their house in Welland, where I met Wendy as well. I once cooked a Thanksgiving dinner for everyone and they were shocked I knew how to cook. We had a lot of BBQ’s at their new home in Welland. Dan would help me if I needed anything fixed at my house. He drove with me when I moved to Florida to be a traveling nurse. We could just pick up where we left off after not talking for a few months. I have so many wonderful memories with Dan and all of the family. I love them all and will miss Dan terribly. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Dear Wendy and family: Kevin and I are so very sad to hear of Dan’s passing. We have great memories of our get togethers at Terri and Bruce’s place in Welland and then again in Antigonish. He continues to live on through your sons and in those beautiful eyes of his grandchildren. “When a loved one becomes a memory….that memory becomes a treasure.” Sending a hug in sympathy and friendship.
