Obituary of Elizabeth Doris Crawford

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elizabeth Doris Crawford of Fredericton, NB, announces her passing on December 6, 2025, at Neill Hall – Shannex.  Born on June 2, 1933, in Penniac, NB, Doris was the cherished daughter of the late Helen (Barton) Clayton and the late John A. Clayton.

 

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her sons, John E. Leslie (Ella) of Davidson Lake, NB and Steven A. Leslie (Heather) of Kingsley,NB; her treasured grandchildren, David Leslie of Fort McMurray, AB, John C. Leslie (Shantelle), and James Leslie (Laura) both of Fredericton, NB; and her adored great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Addison, Caitlyn, and Isla—each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her dear sister, Betty Clayton-Paul (Peter Paul) of Ottawa, ON and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her spouse, Arthur Crawford, and her first husband Eldon Leslie and  brother, Allan Clayton.

 

Doris dedicated many years to the Provincial Government, working in accounting, but her true passions were found at home and among those she loved. She was known for her warm heart, her talent in the kitchen, and her gift for knitting, crocheting, and cake decorating—skills she shared generously with family and friends. Her love of dogs and her gentle, caring nature were constants throughout her life. Her presence, kindness, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

 

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff of Neill Hall for the great care they gave Mum during the time she was a resident there. 

At Doris' request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
