Obituary of Joanne Storey

The passing of Martha “Joanne” Storey of Doaktown, NB, wife of the late Lloyd Sterling Storey Jr., occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home, Boiestown, NB. Born in Storeytown, NB, on August 1, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Elwood and Nora Mae (Storey) O’Donnell. Joanne worked for many years as a Paint Specialist with Home Hardware, where her talent for colour matching was well known. She cherished time spent with her grandson, Stephen, and nieces and nephews. Joanne was a devoted member of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Choir and found joy in gardening both flowers and vegetables, walking, and decorating for every season and occasion.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Jill Brophy (Calvin); her grandson, Stephen Brophy; and her special companion, Gerald Weaver. She was also survived by her sister, the late Gracie Rhynard, who passed only hours after Joanne. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Richard O’Donnell; sisters-in-law, Linda Lyons (Bennett), Laura Storey (Nicky Legresley), Arlene Storey, and Delia Storey, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, Joanne was predeceased by her sister, Peggy O’Donnell; brothers-in-law, Beverley Storey (late Anne), Stevie Storey, and Denny Storey; and sister-in-law, Anna Mae Walls (late George).

Visitation will be held from York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 327 Main Street, Doaktown, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 1 pm with Father Neil Osiowy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery, Clay Hill, Doaktown.
