Obituary of Ben Weale

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Benjamin (Ben) Weale at the DECH on December, 4, 2025 after a brief illness. Ben was the eldest son of Benjamin and Dorothy (Douglas) Weale.

Ben is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janet Thomas, his sons, Michael (Chrissie Bullerwell) and Rob (Nicole Stewart), and his much-loved grandchildren, Theodore, Oliver, Jackson and Charlotte. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy, and his siblings Sheila MacLean (Billy), Paul and Terry, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Ben Weale Snr.

Ben was a man of few words, and an avid Bruins fan who spent most of his life trekking to what felt like every rink in Atlantic Canada. He enjoyed spending time in nature, specifically on the trails of Fundy National Park. He like to travel to new places and loved the beach. He was a member of the Fiddlehead Bridge Club, and loved cards and puzzles.

A celebration of Ben’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 2 to 5 pm, at the Marysville Heritage Centre, 11 McGloin Street, Fredericton, NB. Donations in Ben’s memory can be made to the Brendon Oreto Foundation. Funeral arrangements are by York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton.
