It is with heavy hearts that we share that our dad, Kevin McKillop, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 4th, 2025. He is reunited with our mom, Donna McKillop (nee Janzen).

Kevin was born on March 27th, 1955 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to Edward and Willena McKillop. He loved to tell jokes and play practical jokes on family and friends. Our apologies to anyone who took him too seriously or was on the receiving end of one of his many pranks. Although he liked to act tough, he had a soft and generous heart. He would not allow guests to leave his home empty-handed. He often donated to charities and helped those in need as he felt led by the Lord.

Kevin served in the military for over 20 years and he did several peace-keeping missions overseas in his younger years. He always enjoyed telling stories from his military days, from “borrowing” jeeps (and, of course, returning them), to almost starting a war overseas (he may have exaggerated that one a bit). After his medical discharge from the service, he obtained his GED and received a certificate in Human Services Counselling from NBCC, after which, he worked for several years with clients with various disabilities before officially retiring.

Kevin attended McLeod Hill Assembly of Christians where he volunteered working with the youth group and Awana clubs. He loved to sing, play the guitar, and he even played the trumpet in the military marching band. He later attended Corbett Church. Kevin loved the Lord and his ministry was in his hospitality and generosity. He loved to cook and have families over for meals (homemade french fries and coconut cream pies were a must!).

He loved working with his hands and had a special love for woodworking, building various pieces of furniture for the house or for others. Somehow, he always needed more tools. If anyone described a problem they were having, he was always there and eager to help. He was always ready to provide a listening ear and quick to offer assistance.

Kevin is predeceased by his wife, Donna, as well as his parents, Edward and Willena, and in-laws Margaret (Whittington) Janzen and Larry Gislason, and his brother-in-law David McKeever.  He is survived by his loving children, Chris (Vy) McKillop, Sharon (Andrew) Brown, sister-in laws Janice (Bill Predergast) Janzen, and Diane McKeever; and his brothers and sisters.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the dialysis team for providing such excellent care, even if he didn’t always listen!
