CHARTERS, WILLIAM (BILL)

 

William (Bill) Charters of Doaktown, NB passed away at the Nashwaak Villa in Stanley, NB of Tuesday, December 2, 2025 after a period of declining health. Born on May 24, 1926, he was the son of the late Myles and Jessie (Price) Charters. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son; Barry, sister; Jean Cavanagh and brother: Bob Charters.

 

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Joyce (Parker) Charters; daughter Elaine (Jerry), grandchildren; Scott (Tara), Holly (Doug) and great grandchildren; Patrick, Noah and Elisabeth, sisters; Pat and Joan (Ivan).

 

At a young age he went to live with his grandparents in Priceville and grew up with his aunts and uncles who were like siblings. His working years were spent at Russell & Swim until his retirement in 1990.

For many years, summers were spent at the cottage at Miramichi Lake where friends and family gathered and many card games were played.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of the Nashwaak Villa for the excellent care he received while a resident there.


Visitation will take place at St. Thomas United Church on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 11am – 1pm with service following at 1 pm with Rev. Brian Curtis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
