John “Jack” David Greer

The passing of John “Jack” David Greer of Kingsley, NB, husband of the late Marilyn (Hall) Greer, occurred on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Hospice Fredericton.  Born on August 23, 1939 in Plaster Rock, NB, he was a son of the late Darrell and Mae (Stokoe) Greer.

Jack spent his life dedicated to hard work, service, and caring for others. His career began in Ontario with CN Rail, where he developed the strong work ethic that would carry him through every chapter of his life. After moving to Saint Stephen, New Brunswick, he worked at The Lobster Haven before deciding to pursue a new direction. He completed an orderly course in Saint Andrews at the Algonquin, marking the beginning of his long and meaningful career in health care.

Jack later moved to Fredericton, where he served both the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Pine Grove Nursing Home with dedication and compassion. He eventually retired from the Chalmers, closing a career defined by kindness, reliability, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of others.

In his free time, Jack found great joy in tending to his rose gardens. He proudly entered his roses in the Fredericton and Saint John Exhibition, where he was honored with the title of Grand Champion many times. His love of roses also sparked an interest in photography, and he spent many hours capturing their beauty through his camera lens.

Jack had a deep affection for his dogs, especially his beloved English Setter, Susie. Above all, he cherished time spent with his wife, children, and many grandchildren, who were the heart of his life.

Jack will be remembered for his gentle nature, strong work ethic, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.

Jack is survived by his children, Joanne Sierpinski (Doug),Timothy Greer, Michael Greer (Wendy), Jeffrey Greer (Cathy), Patrick Greer (Sandra) and Sherri Greer; grandchildren, Shawn, Shane, Christa, Tamara, Kyle, Emily, Rebecca, Kyle Michael, Jacinda, CJ, NJ, JJ, Logan, Natasha, Kaylyn and Glendin; several great grandchildren; brother, Allan Greer; sisters in law, Judy Doucette and Pearl Cains and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, Jack was predeceased by his sisters, Glenna Wright and Margaret Wright.

Visitation will take place at Kingsley Baptist Church, 35 Kingsley Road, Estey's Bridge, NB on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 1-2 pm; followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm with Pastor Steven Teed officiating.
