CURTIS, MARVELLA ETHEL

 

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Marvella Ethel Curtis on November 20th, 2025 at Hospice House. 
 

Born on May 24, 1940 in Springfield, NB, she was the daughter of the late Grace (Corey)and Irvine Reed. 

Marvella is survived by son: Brent Curtis (Marissa) of Fredericton; daughter: Melody Paul (Richard) of Fredericton; sisters: Joyce Hatheway (Wayne) of Halifax, and Brenda Yerxa (Adam) of Keswick; brothers: Terry Arbeau (Jane) of Springfield and Ashley Arbeau (Cindy) of Springfield; grandchildren: Richelle (Keeghan) Fenerty, Aric Paul, Mary (Cody) Paul, Jelline Banania, Karl Matthew Mateo; great grandchildren:Millie and Sadie Fenerty and Charlotte Levesque; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Curtis and their four infant children: Cynthia, Virginia, Christopher and Matthew as well as her brother: Glendon Reed.
 

Marvella lived a life marked by unwavering faith, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to prayer. She encouraged countless others to draw closer to God, offering words of hope and guidance in times of uncertainty. Through gentle conversations, heartfelt prayers, or quiet acts of kindness, she reminded everyone she met of the power of faith and the comfort found in prayer. Marvella took great pride in being a wife and mother and cherished her family deeply. Her devotion to them was a living testament to the love she carried in her heart. 

She endured many losses, but celebrated many victories in her life and was always there for anyone in need. 

She completed and taught “Pain of the Heart” Biblical Counseling course and shared her faith and life experiences thru women’s Bible studies, counselling, prayer and leading by example. 

She was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Government of Canada to honour and recognize outstanding and exemplary contributions to communities or to Canada as a whole.

Marvella’s devotion created ripples of encouragement that will continue to inspire family, friends, and community members for generations to come.
 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  The funeral will be held at Hope City Church, 429 Clements Drive on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor Dale Riley officiating. Interment at Scotch Settlement Cemetery will following the service. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
