Obituary of Timothy Alan Pelkey
With shattered hearts, the family of Timothy “Tim” Alan Pelkey — known to many as “Tim Eye” — announce his passing surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Hospice House in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Born in Aroostook, New Brunswick, on August 24, 1963, Tim carried the spirit of home with him wherever he went. In 1994 he made Fredericton his place to build a life, raise a family, and leave his unmistakable mark on anyone lucky enough to cross his path. He lived his life with equal parts grit, humor, and heart.
Tim was the definition of a “Jack of all trades.” If there was a job to be done, he could do it — and usually better than the person who taught him. He spent over 20 years as Operations Manager at Kings Place and other Colliers properties, a role he filled with pride, hard work, and the kind of practical know-how that can only be earned, never taught. Before that, he tried his hand at just about everything: pursuing his plumbing ticket, working in the woods in Juniper, and taking on any role that kept his hands busy and his mind sharp. Tim was always in motion, always tinkering, always fixing — always doing.
But for all the work he poured himself into, Tim loved the simple things most. When he wasn’t working or doing, he was keeping everyone in line with that sharp wit of his, serving up meals that were better than a restaurant, or tossing out one-liners that made the entire room stop, laugh, and shake their heads. He cheered loudly for his New England Patriots and Toronto Blue Jays, and he loved a weekend spent exactly how he wanted it: at home with his wife Shelly, music playing, good food on the go, a drink in hand, and the pets curled up close.
In his younger years, Tim was an athlete through and through, playing softball for the Aroostook A.T.O.M.I.C.’s—always competitive, always game for anything. He was always up to something with his brothers / cousins as well; they often liked to adventure. Canoeing, fishing, camping were also high on his list of adventures, especially up past Riley Brook. And right to the end, he never lost his love for a good time. Just ask Stephanie about the infamous office bet: paint his office Montreal Canadiens colours if the Maple Leafs lost. (Spoiler: he kept his word.)
Tim leaves behind the people he loved most: his wife of 44 years, Shelly; his daughter Chelsey (Mike); his son Morgan (Alysha); and his two treasured grandchildren, William and Grace, who lit up his world. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings Dawn, Jeff, Trudie, and Jerry (Gill); his dogs Thor and Thea, and a large extended circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.
He is reunited with his parents, Arnold and Helen Pelkey; his sister Laurie-Ann, his son, Oliver; his grandson, Miller; his mother-in-law, Jean; and other loved ones who passed before him.
Tim lived his days by doing the best he could — even on the days that weren’t easy. That unfiltered, steady, showing-up kind of effort is the legacy he leaves behind, one we’re now entrusted to carry forward.
Tim’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the the Extra-Mural nurses, the caring team (angels) at Hospice House and the many friends and family who walked alongside Tim over the past two years. He met cancer with strength, stubbornness, courage, and a fierce will to stay present with the people he loved.
Arrangements have been entrusted with York Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery in California Settlement, New Brunswick, on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 3pm. A private family reception will follow after.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim’s name to Hospice House in Fredericton (Palliative Care Resource Network Inc.) or to Sunset Cemetery in California Settlement. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
