Obituary of Shayne Pierre Laviolette

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shayne Pierre Laviolette, of Keswick Ridge, NB, beloved husband of Shelley (Neilson) Laviolette. Surrounded by his family after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer where he never complained or gave up hope. Shayne entered into rest at the Hospice Fredericton on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the age of 58 years old. Born in Hamilton, ON, on March 28, 1967, Shayne was the son of Shirley (McLay) Laviolette and the late Lionel (Leo) Laviolette.

A talented and dedicated tradesman, Shayne built a respected career as a Red Seal Automotive Service Technician and Truck and Transport Technician, where he later found his dream job working as a Heavy Equipment Technician with the Department of National Defence (CFB Gagetown) for 18 years. Shayne could often be found in his garage, his favourite place to unwind. He took genuine pride in caring for his vehicles, “toys” and his home.

In addition to his loving wife of 34 years, Shayne will be forever remembered by his daughters, Alysha (Keenan) and Jessica, and by his cherished granddaughter, Ayla. He is also survived by his sister, Chantal Mann (Troy); his brother, Justin Laviolette(Lindsay); brother-in-law Randy Neilson (Marjorie); stepfather Reid Leclerc and many much-loved nieces, nephews and extended family.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and friends whose lives were made better by his strength and generous heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Oncology & Pallative dept at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and especially Hospice Fredericton for their compassion and care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 12 - 2pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton (Palliative Care Resource Network Inc.) Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
