Obituary of Effie Elizabeth Colford
It is with heavy hearts we the family of Effie Elizabeth (Veno) Colford announce her passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday evening November 12, 2025. Born on August 27, 1953 in Weaver Siding, NB, she was the daughter of the late Leo Murdock and Carmel Mary (Veno) Colford.
Effie is survived by her twin sister, Essie (Veno) Peterson; brother, Fred Veno; sister-in-law, Mary (Lyons) Veno all of Doaktown, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Effie was predeceased by her son, BJ Colford; her common-law husband, Perley Morehouse; brother, Leo Veno; sister, Phyllis (Veno) Basque.
If you knew Effie, you would remember her infectious smile. Effie had an exceptional warm heart, and it was especially expressed through her unforgettable hugs and her love for baking. She enjoyed diving into every department of a thrift store looking for items for others and any treasures she could cart home. Temu was her new best friend knowing she could purchase and return, purchase and return, you get it. Tops was a favorite outing of hers and she would like to freely share her losses and gains with everyone in hearing distance.
Blondie, Shadow and Monte were names frequently used in her home. They had a very precise feeding schedule. She loved her cat family.
And most of all she freely cared for and looked after her brother and sister in times of need. Effie worked very hard to please her Maker.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Miramichi Regional Hospital for her excellent care.
The family will receive visitors at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, Doaktown, NB on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Annunciation on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11am with Fr. Paul Doucet officiating.
