Obituary of Myra Lorraine Long

Myra Lorraine Long, of Doaktown, New Brunswick, passed away on October 23, 2025 at Hospice Fredericton. She was the wife of the late Donald Long. Born on April 16, 1947, in Doaktown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Witherell) and Eugene Russell.

Myra is survived by her children, Donald (Tara) of Riverview and April Gilmore of Astle. She is also survived by her brother Eugene Russell (Kim) and sister Carolyn Price, both of Fredericton. Her grandchildren, Todd, Jesse, and Devon Gilmore, Tessa, Connor, Cormac, and Tryn Long, as well as her great-grandchildren, Berkley, Kennedy, Jasper Gilmore, and Malakai Long, and several nieces and nephews, cherish her memory.

Myra dedicated her career of 35 years to teaching at the Doaktown Primary School, impacting many students and colleagues throughout her years of service.

A Funeral Service will take place at the Miramichi Valley Church, 7769 NB-8, New Bandon, NB on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 2pm with Pastor David Storey officiating. Private Family Interment will follow at the Doaktown Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery. Donations may be made to the IWK Health Centre or a charity of your choice.
