Obituary of Carrie Ellen Weaver

Please share a memory of Carrie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Carrie Ellen Weaver of Doaktown, New Brunswick, announce her passing at home on October 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on October 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late William and Thelma (Cowie) Carr.

Carrie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Weaver; her brother, Eldon Carr; and her son-in-law, Don Emerson.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kim Emerson; son, Donald “Jerry” Weaver (Marilyn); granddaughter, Christina; great-granddaughters, Sophia, Hazel, and Melody; and great-grandson, Kai. She is also survived by her siblings, Marion Green (Charles) and Kenneth Carr (Deanne), as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carrie lived a full and active life. She loved travelling, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting. After surviving cancer herself, Carrie devoted time to knitting colorful prayer shawls for other patients facing illness — a reflection of her compassion and desire to bring comfort to others. She also created countless crafts, greeting cards, and practical household gadgets that showcased her creativity and care.

A proud and dedicated member of her community, Carrie joined the Blackville branch of the New Brunswick Women’s Institute in November 2003, serving as both President and Vice President. She was also an active member of the UCW, Eastern Star, and Doaktown Bridge Club, and volunteered with literacy programs and local schools, where she shared her talents for knitting and quilting with children.

In recommending her for Life Membership, the Blackville Women’s Institute wrote: “Whenever you see Carrie you also see her trademark butterfly, whether it be in a necklace, pin, or a specially made purse or bag. Whenever we see butterflies, we all think of Carrie.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Thomas United Church, 367 Main Street, Doaktown, on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 2 pm with Rev. Brian Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in St. Thomas United Church Cemetery, South Road, Doaktown. A reception will be held in the church hall following the burial, and all are welcome to join the family.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in keeping with Carrie’s generous spirit and her deep involvement in community life. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com

Carrie will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity by her family, her many friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
