Obituary of Valerie Margaret Janet Fairley

Please share a memory of Valerie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Margaret Janet (Munn) Fairley of Bloomfield Ridge at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Valerie was born in Holtville, NB on December 3, 1933. She was the loving daughter of Harold Hector Munn and Hessie Ruth (Davis) Munn. She lost her Dad when she was four years old. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Valerie was a cook most of her life. She worked for the Neil family, Forest Protection Ltd., Rapid Waters Sporting Camp, and Salmon Brook Fishing Club. She was a member of the UCW & Institute and Quilting bees. Everyone loved her cooking - She kept her cookie cupboard stocked with doughnuts, red eyes, ginger sparkles, and more for all her grandkids. Feeding people was Valerie's love language, from home cooked dinners to a cup of tea and sweets. She married the love of her life, George Fairley, when she was 18 years old. They were married 70 years when George passed away in 2022. They lived in Bloomfield Ridge all their married life.

Valerie is survived by three children: daughter Bobbie (Jim) Reid of Marysville, sons Harold (Carol) Fairley of Bloomfield Ridge and Jeff (Bertha) Fairley of Alberta. Nine grandchildren, Jamie (April) Reid, Andy (Jennifer) Reid, Kelly (Scott) Arbeau, Mike (Deanna Munn) McAleer, Karen (Matt) Lambert, Derek (Kit Pfieffer) Fairley, Katie (Tony) Williams, Chuck (Allie) Fairley, and Shane (Mary) Fairley, several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Geraldine Munn, brother-in-law Ron Head, and extended family members. She welcomed every new family member with open arms and a loving heart.

She is predeceased by her husband George Fairley, daughter Keyo (McAleer), her parents Hessie Munn and Harold Munn, sister Clara (late Jim) Witherell, two brothers Murdick Munn and Marlyn (late Jeanette) Munn, in-laws Elva and Bertie Fairley, Carolyn Head, Marcienne & Dow MacDonald, Vera & Ottie Fraser, Erma & Darrell Stewart, stepfather Rannie Munn, nieces Lois Currie and Sari Munn, and nephews Timmy Stewart and Andrew Currie.
