Obituary of Gerald David Price
Gerald David Price was born at home on October 3rd, 1940 to Lloyd and Myrtle Price in the great community of Priceville overlooking the Miramichi river. His siblings Evelyn, Norman, Hazel and Mavis had already made for a lively household before his arrival and in the years to come, the household grew to include Verna, Merle, Ida and Becky.
He grew up learning all the places there were to discover, paths through the woods, places to fish, what roads led where, what plants were around. He also learned how to build structures and anything he could make out of wood, luckily, he had lots of trees to choose from.
He got into his teen years and developed a life long interest in cars, preferably ones that were fast. Before too long, he got his eye set on Ermonie Stewart who lived across the river, this relationship became an even bigger passion in his life and in October 1961, they made the great decision to get married. Having completed Bible school by this time, they decided to go help out in a church, in Montreal. Within a few years, Sonya was born and the next year, Sheila. Gerald had also gone to school to become a car body mechanic, busy years.
Many years were lived in Montreal where he continued to put his talents to use to renovate and grow churches, to love the city he lived in, to travel within Quebec and further abroad. Not to mention the 100+ trips made to NB over the years.
By the time he was 40, he had acquired a son (in law) in Steve and then, his first grandson, Luke. He absolutely excelled in both of these roles and the grandchildren kept coming, almost like a reward at doing such a good job. There were Micah and Jordan. Then Sheila got married and Joel and Paige came along. It made for loud, boisterous, joyful family gatherings and outings.
After having lived in Montreal for 35 years, it was time for them to head back home to the Miramichi once again because, doesn’t everyone return back to the river where the fiddleheads grow? Many happy years were spent with his mom, siblings, sibling in laws and friends. Now, not only were the kids and grandkids coming to visit at the camp he built, they were now bringing their spouses, Robin, Devin, Katlyn, Sarah and Justin along with the greats with their unique views on life, Seth, Shea, Brielle, Silas, Grey, Emery, Abigail & Ellis.
On September 24, 2025, he successfully completed his life on this earth, loved by so many. A man who was truly consistent as a Christian, a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and mentor. We will miss him so very much but we have so many, many great memories that he took the time to build with each and every one of us, friends and family alike.
