Obituary of Ralph MacKay

The passing of James “Ralph” MacKay of Hanwell, NB, husband of the late Reta (Case) MacKay, occurred on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 23, 1933 in Fredericton, NB, he was a son of the late Cecil and Edna (Cameron) MacKay.

Ralph is survived by his partner, Eileen Cashen; his children, Joe Anne Wiser (Barry), Jamie MacKay (Dianne), Gardner MacKay (Jalaine) and Beverley MacKay (Roland); grandchildren, Jason Hunter (Brie) and Darren Hunter (Lisa), Cecile MacKay and Cameron MacKay (Sadie), Chelsea Sellick (Tyler) and Grant Dorcas (Ricky), and Drew McConnell; and several great grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, Ralph was predeceased by his daughter, Janet Dorcas; and brother, Garnet MacKay.

Ralph worked for over 50 years with Canada Post, which he enjoyed to the fullest. He took great pleasure in talking with people on his travels, often offering his opinions about the subject manner at hand. He loved his family dearly and always enjoyed much laughter when family was around.

A Private Family Service will take place at a later date. Interment will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Nashwaak Bridge, NB. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, New Brunswick Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
