Obituary of Gilbert Edward Richard Brown

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gilbert “Gil” Edward Richard Brown of Fredericton, New Brunswick, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Gil was the beloved husband of the late Gloria Jean (Betts) Brown. He was born on March 1, 1936, in Halifax, NS, to the late Gilbert and Hazel (Yates) Brown. Gil was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He had a lifelong passion for sports, particularly as a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Blackhawks. He spent many years of his career with Cummins Diesel and later with NBLCC - Devon Store, where he made lasting connections with those who worked alongside him.   Gil was known for his great sense of humour and gift of gab.

Gil is survived by his children, Stephen Brown (Brenda), Debbie Allen (Milton), Catherine Brown, and Kevin Brown (Wanda); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Erin, Josh, Lira, and Melissa; and his great-grandchildren, Zachery, Thomas, Lucas, and Jordan as well as several nieces and nephew.  Loving fur babies Reggie and Lucy. 

A graveside service will be held Saturday September 20th at 11am, Lower Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Fredericton SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
