Obituary of Margaret Jean Wood
Margaret “Marg” Wood
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Jean “Marg” Wood on September 4th, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born July 24, 1930, in Havelock, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Gibson) Templeton. She was predeceased by her husband Harold “Hal” Wood.
Marg spent her career in the nursing profession. She studied nursing at the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career led her to the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton and later to the Dr. Everett Chalmes Hospital where she led the volunteer program. After leaving the hospital, Marg continued to work with the Extramural Program until her retirement.
Marg was an avid bridge player and quilter where she met many of her close friends. Always enjoying the outdoors, Marg loved gardening, skiing, skating and bird watching. Spending time with her grandchildren over home-cooked lunches and a crossword puzzle brought her joy.
Marg will be deeply missed by her children Rosalie Wood (Doug) and Adam Wood (Jeanne). She adored her grandsons Alex (Danielle) and Michael (Megan), often singing their praises to her friends and family. Marg was a proud great grandmother to Joey, the newest addition to the Wood clan. She is also survived by her sister Mary Coates, brother James Templeton and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings David Templeton, John Templeton, Robert Templeton and Elizabeth Keith.
Marg’s passing marks not only the closure of a long and remarkable life, but truly the end of an era for her family and all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Odell Park Lodge (upstairs) on Monday, September 15th, 2025, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. People are encouraged to share their stories and memories of Marg during the celebration.
