It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Ann (Leslie) Martin of Fredericton on the 2nd day of September 2025. Joan Ann was born on April 22nd, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Eliza (Babe) Leslie. She was a member of Wilmot United Church and attended York Street School, Fredericton High School, The University of New Brunswick and Fredericton Business College.

She is survived by her sons, Gerald Martin, Michael Martin, Elmer Martin, Jr., Ambrose Carroll and Arron Carroll; daughters, Bernice Durelle (Buff), Shirley Parise (Ted), Dorine Martin-Manuel (Melvin), Raven Carrol| (Robbie); grandchildren, Tiffany Martin, Brittany Martin, Brianna Martin (Coewan), Jordan Martin (Brad), Joey Martin (Toinette), Colin Gregan, Victoria Valeri (Evan), Rebecca Gregan, Jean-Nicholas Parise (Romane), Coulton Durelle (Kristen), Philip Martin (Alyssa) and Davis Connick; great grandchildren, Charles, Penelope, Emmett, Leah and Atlas; sister-in-law, Helene; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friends, Joyce (Barber) Gallagher, Rita MacAllister, Meda Titus, Connie Muise-Martin. Marion Martin, and Lisa Henderson.

Besides her parents, Joan Ann was predeceased by her son, Edward Walter Martin; loving companion Elmer Martin, Sr.; former spouse Ambrose Martin; birth mother, Lillian Daye; infant son, Leslie Joseph Martin; sister, Edna Mae Leslie; brothers Walter (Sonny) Leslie and Gordon H. Daye.

Visitation will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 12 noon to 2 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2 pm in York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the NB Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
