Obituary of Orella Louise Beek

Please share a memory of Orella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Orella Louise Beek (née Thibodeau) of Storeytown, NB, announces her passing on August 28, 2025, at Shannex - Medley Hall in Fredericton.

Orella was the beloved wife of 73 years of Vincent Eldridge Beek. She was born on August 1, 1933, in Storeytown, NB, to the late Robert Joseph and Laura Mary (Vautour) Thibodeau.

Orella was a quiet and private person who found comfort in the familiar routines of home and family life. She was a devoted homemaker who expressed her care through practical means— especially in the kitchen, where she was known for her baking and her legendary homemade rolls, which became a staple at family weddings for many years. Though she preferred solitude to social gatherings, Orella was steadfast in her dedication to her family. She enjoyed the simplicity of everyday life, finding contentment in cooking, baking, and reading. Sunday was her favorite day of the week because family always gathered for a meal. Her home was a place of order and routine, and those closest to her appreciated her strength, independence, and unassuming nature. Her door was open to any visitors and a meal and a hot cup of tea was always ready.

Orella is survived by her sons, Robert Beek (Frances) of Renous, NB, Tony Beek (Vicki) of Storeytown, NB, Ralph Beek (Roslyn) of Storeytown, NB; her daughters, Sylvina Mertens (Frank) of Storeytown, NB, Geraldine O'Donnell (Cedric) of Big Hole Brook, NB, Rita Beek-Luce (Peter) of Doaktown, NB; daughter-in-law, Josephine Beek of Renous, NB; sister, Laurice Fendley of Blackville, NB; brother, Edward Tucker (Muriel) of Hamilton, ON; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her sons, Ronald Beek and Roger Beek; grandson, Michael Mertens; brothers, Edmund Thibodeau and Justin Thibodeau; and sister, Sylvina Thibodeau.
