Obituary of Verna Elizabeth Cross

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Verna Elizabeth Cross (Fewer) announce her passing on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the age of 75. She passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Verna fought a long hard battle and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Verna was originally from Gambo, NL, but lived most of her life in Labrador City where she worked and eventually retired. Verna was one of the most thoughtful, caring, loving and generous people that you would ever meet. She was loved and cherished by everyone that knew her.

Verna was predeceased by her three children, daughter, Jean Cathy; son, Dennis, and daughter, Wendy; her parents, Fred and Lily (Pritchett) Fewer; sister, Sandra Starkes (Cross); in-laws, Myrtle and William Cross, Gordon Cross, Anne Adams (Cross), Allistair Cross and Raymond Cross Sr.

Left to mourn, her husband, Melvin Cross; siblings, Mona Cruikshank (Brad), Fred Fewer (Wanda), Pam Waterman (Kirk), Barry Fewer (Laura), Craig Fewer (Anita), Annette Galway and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

As per Verna's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
