Age 96 • Hazelton, New Brunswick
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Glenwood (Glen) Dow Parker announce his passing on July 25, 2025 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB. He was 96 years old.
Glen was born on May 22, 1929 in Carrolls Crossing, NB to Ralph and Grace (Lyons) Parker. As a young man, he spent many years working in logging camps before deciding to pursue ranger school in Fredericton, NB. He graduated from ranger school in June of 1961 and began his career as a forest ranger in Doaktown, NB that same year. Glen loved to plant his vegetable garden each summer, sharing his crop with family, friends, and neighbours. Glen devoted many hours to studying the Bible and many other books, which brought him peace and strength throughout his life.
Glenwood is survived by his sons Larry (Debbie) of Calgary, AB, Jackie (Laura) of New Bandon, NB, Chris of Lacombe County, AB, James (Jennifer) of Bettsburg, NB, and Tony (Charlene) of Calgary, AB; 19 grandchildren and many cherished great-grandchildren; sister Betsy O’Donnell (Jimmy) of Fredericton, NB; brother Delbert Parker (Bonnie) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; sister-in-law Litsa Parker of Toronto, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his children, Glen is survived by stepchildren Kenny Turner, Kevin Turner, Rick Dewey, Rebecca Stewart, Keith Turner (Tammy), Kirt Turner, Karl Turner (Amanda) and 18 step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet Parker on April 27, 2025; tragically he lost his sons Wayne (11) and Tommy (7) and daughters Carol Ann (6), Shirley Mae (4), and Bonnie Lou (2) on December 13, 1962; granddaughter Charly Parker; parents Ralph and Grace; sisters Sandra Parker and Inez O’Donnell; brother Wilfred Parker; and mother of his children Delores Scheidl.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 6:00 PM at the Doaktown Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Janet. In lieu of flowers, donations to Miramichi Valley Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church Ltd can be made in Glen and Janet’s name. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
