As a kid I clearly remember fishing for trout at the beaver dams with Harding and the gang via Land Rover. Fun memory. I remember him as a outdoors man, and a nice guy. R.I.P. Harding. Best wishes to the family.

My sincere condolences to Susan, Keith and family on the passing of Harding. I just learned of his passing and although very sad it brought back great memories of my time spent with Harding at Burntland Brook camp and the camp at the sugarbush. Harding was always good for a great meal, few drinks and many laughs. I was proud to consider Harding a friend. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. RIP my friend.

I'm sure going to miss Harding. We're first cousins but he's 13 years older than me so I didn't really get to know him until I reached adulthood. I was born in Astle and spent all but three years of my childhood there. Most memories of Harding from my childhood are of him working at that little store. No specific memories, just generally always seeing Harding as good humoured, generous, welcoming, a friend to one and all, an overall good decent man.
I left Astle upon graduating from high school, lived a couple of years in Fredericton and moved West at age 20. I've lived here ever since then.
After moving West I've only been back home 9 times. I stayed with Susan and Harding a few days each of my last four visits there. Was always made to feel right at home of course. He introduced me to crazy rummy which I enjoy very much. Usually the two of us would play a game or two of crib after everyone else had gone to bed. I'll always think of Harding whenever I play cards.
The most outstanding memory of Harding is one summer when my mother and I were visiting from the West at the same time as a cousin from Calgary. I hadn't been home for 15 years that time. Harding and Susan hosted a little family reunion at their house one evening. He loved music and there were several locals playing and singing most of the night. That same visit he hosted quite a few of the Palmer side of the family at his Burntland camp. Music again there with storytelling and many jokes. Don't remember who cooked it but we had the most delicious moose roast.
I wish now I had been back more often so I could have spent more time with Harding. Yes I sure am going to miss him. He was just plain good company.
