Obituary of Marios Telemachou Makrides

It is with much sadness, that the family of Marios Telemachou Makrides announces his passing on Tuesday, July 22nd at Shannex in Fredericton.

The second youngest of five brothers, he was born in 1933, in Nicosia, Cyprus where he lived until coming to Canada in 1955 to meet his pen pal, Connie Bemrose, whom he married in 1956 and returned to Cyprus with, to work for the Cypriot government and where they lived for the next seven years, before returning to Fredericton in 1963, where they spent the next 63 years of their lives together, before her passing in 2021.

Forever the salesman, Dad worked at Levine’s Department Store on Queens Street for nearly thirty years, owned his own business, Mason & Makrides Appliances, with longtime co-worker Clint Mason and finally, Peter Roberts Inc., up until his retirement.

Predeceased by his parents, brothers, and wife, he is survived by son, Metros Makrides of Comox, British Columbia; daughter, Mitzi Makrides and husband Robert Wilkins of Fredericton, NB; grandson, Joshua Eygenraam (Jen Mann) of Toronto, Ontario and Dmitri Makrides (Cassie) of Fredericton, NB.

A very special thank you to everyone at Thomas Hall, whose patience, kindness and care for Dad in the final year and a half of his life, was greatly appreciated.

There will be no services or visitation, by request of the family. A committal service will take place at a later date. For those who wish to, memorial donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society or a charity of their choosing. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
