Obituary of Erma Cynthia Gibson

The passing of Erma Cynthia Gibson of Fredericton, NB, widow of the late Melvin Davis Gibson, occurred on July 21, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 11, 1937, in Astle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Hunter and the late Mildred (Logan) Hunter.
 
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Kathrine Rankin (Vernon), Kim Agnew (John/Jack), Heather Vanwart, and David Gibson (Cammie); her sister, Francis Knowles; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Erma was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Gibson; her sister, Nina Case; and her brother, Albert Hunter.

Great gratitude and admiration to all the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital - 3SW for the compassionate care given to Mom.

Erma loved her family and friends and time spent with them was precious to her.  She was a great babysitter for her grandchildren and a few grand dogs.
She was well known for her home made bread which she loved to bake and share with those who dropped in.

Erma enjoyed watching politics on TV and was always up to date with the turmoil in the world. Erma had a special friendship with Linda and Gary Storey, her next door neighbors while she lived in Nashwaak Bridge.

Erma was a member of the Nashwaak Bridge Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 80.

A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 1 pm. Interment will follow in the Astle Community Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children – Montreal, the Astle Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
