Obituary of Andrew James Clarkson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Andrew James Clarkson on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Fredericton Hospice House in the arms of his loving family.

Born in Fredericton on February 19, 1956 to Glenwood Clarkson and Greta (DeLucry) Clarkson.  Andrew is survived by his wife, Lynn (Sinclair) Clarkson; daughters, Jenna Clarkson (Matthew Furlotte) and Jillian Clarkson (Jeremy Kearns); sister, Sandra Derbawka (Richard); and nephews, Nick Derbawka (Nicole) and Matt Derbawka.

Andrew was a devoted husband, proud father, and trusted loyal friend. Known for his quiet presence, dry wit and meticulous nature, he lived a life rooted in routine, family, and the simple joys that made him who he was.

Andrew studied Civil Engineering Tech at Moncton Tech, and over the course of his career worked at Atlas Construction Maritimes Ltd., Simpson Construction, ADI, and Goguen Architecture. Always steady, always reliable.

A lifelong sports fan, Andrew rarely missed a UNB Varsity Reds game and followed just about every professional sport on tv, particularly the Blue Jays and NASCAR.  He was a proud basketball dad to his daughters — never far from a gymnasium when Jenna or Jillian were playing.

He loved summers at Grand Lake, escapes to Cabo, and afternoons spent mowing the lawn or carefully washing the car. His love for cats was well known, and his signature "cat voice" will be remembered by all who heard it.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fredericton Hospice House for their compassionate support and care during Andrew’s short stay.

As per Andrew’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. He wasn’t one for the spotlight, and those who knew him will carry him forward in the small, familiar moments: a well-striped lawn, a ball game on TV, a cat curled up nearby.
