Obituary of Raymond Wesley Munn

Raymond Wesley Munn passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Fredericton on 26 June 2025. He was born on 06 March 1931 in Holtville, NB. He was the son of Clairmont and Ella Mae Munn. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years Constance (Connie) Carroll. He is survived by four children; Shirley Gullison (Phil), Trent, Adeline Ashfield (Neil), and Dana (Sondra). Raymond will be deeply missed by his children and their families. He is survived by siblings Alice Hitchcock of Boiestown, Clairmont “Cammy” of Taymouth, and Clifford of Holtville, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by brothers Milton and Everett, and sisters Frances Reed and Hannah “Honey” McElroy.

He began his working career at the age of twelve when he went to the woods to cut the winter’s wood and stayed busy into his eighties. Raymond worked all throughout the province as a wood’s worker, truck driver, machine operator, and river guide.

In 2008 he and Connie moved to Didsbury, Alberta. Raymond kept busy working for Dana doing demo work, hauling supplies, and operating equipment. They returned to New Brunswick in 2012 where he kept busy with projects and home improvement. In 2017 they moved back to Holtville where he was able to connect with old friends and family. He read his Bible daily and his life reflected his devotion to God.

Raymond cherished time spent with his family and looked forward to time together. In addition to his children, he is survived by his grandchildren Kathleen McAllister Munn, Jordan McAllister Munn, Marielle Ashfield, Devin Ashfield (Ashley), Tyler Munn (Genny), Justin Munn, Mikaela Van Es (Zac). He is also survived by great grandchildren, Riata Berreth (Riley), Elmo, Reta Beth, and Jed Guynup: Faith, Nathan and Ella Ashfield; Oliver and Declan Munn; and Jax and Frazer Van Es.

His family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and support staff at Hospice House Fredericton for their compassionate and professional care.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 30th, 6-8 pm at Miramichi’s First Pentecostal Church in Holtville.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 1st at 2:00 pm followed by interment at the Cameron Hill Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the church at 4:00 pm following the burial.

If so desired, memorial donations in Raymond's memory may be made to the Hospice House, at 621 Churchill Row, Fredericton, or to your charity of choice.
