Obituary of Ron Stafford

Please share a memory of Ron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of a great man. Our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend- Ronald Edward Stafford. Ron passed away peacefully at Hospice House Fredericton on June 26, 2025. He was born the son of the late Ronald J & Ella (nee Brewer) Stafford on October 2, 1943.

Ron leaves behind a loving family; his wife Linda (nee Grant) of 55 years; his daughters Haley, Stephanie (Scott) and Vicki (Dean); his grandchildren Jay & Sara, Mitch (Kirsten), and Tyler (Lacey); his great grandchildren Blayke & Broden. Ron was one of 6 boys: brothers Fraser, David (Joyce), Terry, Jerry, and James (predeceased), and has many extended family, friends and grand furbabies.

Ron (nicknamed Pokey) grew up in Marysville. He met Linda while the two worked at the Kmart Dominion on Smythe Street and married in 1970 when they started their life journey together. They lived most of their lives between Sussex and Fredericton where they both belonged to the local Lions Club, motorcycle group and bowling leagues. Ron retired from the grocery business at the age of 46 after which he dabbled in a few more businesses with one of his favorites being Pirates Cove Campground. Ron loved life, loved to laugh and to be around family and friends. They enjoyed many Winters in Florida at Fairway Village and many Summers on Grand Lake at Buckwheat Estates, meeting many good friends along the way. Ron also enjoyed weekly sequence card games with his in-laws Eddy & Sandra.

He taught his daughters and grandchildren many things. The most important lesson was to have common sense and to use it!  He was smart and thrifty.  His favorite place to hangout was in any type of grocery store. He loved the sun, the water, the open road and anything that had a motor. He loved a good drink, to cook, his 3 girls, his grandchildren and Linda.  Ron’s favorite thing to do was laugh and tease people, and he welcomed it back in return.  He always lived his life on his terms and he did it his way.

All that knew him will miss him dearly, but we have so many memories of his big laugh, his good natured teasing and his genuine love of his family and friends. These memories we will cherish forever until we meet him again. We love him so much!

A special thank you to the staff at Hospice House for making his last days comfortable. There will be no services as per Ron’s request. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to Hospice House Fredericton, Muscular Dystrophy Canada, or charity of your choosing. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
