Obituary of Patricia Pearl O'Leary-Coughlan

Patricia Pearl O'Leary-Coughlan, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB on Friday, June 27, 2025. Born in Rexton, NB, on December 28, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Patrick O'Leary and Annie (Hanrahan) O'Leary.

Patricia dedicated her life to education and social services. She worked as a teacher at a private business school and later served as Assistant Director with Social Services in New Brunswick. An active member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Fredericton, she was also an alumna of St. Francis Xavier University, and held a degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto.

She is survived by her great niece, Elaine Bell (Nathan) and their children, Sam and Audrey; her special cousin, Teresa McEachern; her dear friend, Clarence Landry; and several other cousins. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Hilarion Coughlan; sisters, Helen Hennessy and Evelyn O'Leary; and nephew, Bill Hennessy.

A visitation will be held at York Funeral Home in Fredericton, NB on Friday, July 4, 2025 from 11 to 12:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will follow at St. Theresa's Catholic Church at 1 pm and will be officiated by Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappn. Interment will take place in Tracadie-Sheila at a later date.
