Obituary of Dorothy Eleanor Dean

The passing of Dorothy Dean occurred on Friday, June 20th, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born July 30, 1927, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Hooper.

She met and married the late Chester A. Dean during the second world war while he was serving in Halifax with RCAF. After his return to Canada, they moved to New Brunswick where they remained for the rest of their lives. The Deans were long-time members of Grace Memorial Baptist Church.

Dorothy was predeceased by her only child, Donald Bruce Dean; sisters Shirley and Colleen; and her brothers Reginald and Wayne.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Pamela Dean and two sisters, Helen MacDonald of Burlington, Ontario and Lynn Illsley of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Arrangements are under the care of York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. As per Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Forest hill Cemetery, 215 Forest Hill Rd, Fredericton, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 1:00pm for an interment.
