Obituary of Marie Jean Warner
Marie Jean (McNamara) Warner, daughter of Florence and Frank McNamara (deceased) of Holtville, N.B. passed away suddenly on June 19th, 2025. Marie was the delight of many hearts during her rich and vibrant life; beloved Mother of Kate (Warner) Youngsam, devoted Nana of Kaitlin Witter, Montana Witter, and Isaiah Youngsam; loving twin of her sister Mary Otterson (Gerald( deceased)) and precious sister of Christena Beukeveld (Bernard), Frances MacKay (Winston), and Cora McNamara (David Tomlinson). Marie was much loved by her nieces and nephews who were often delighted by visits from Aunt Marie. She bravel took some of them on special outings and gave them lifelong memories and stories to share. Marie was a cherished friend to many colleagues and the fortunate individuals she met and loved during her distinguished career path and life.
Marie achieved Teaching Certification from Lakeshore Teacher’s College, Toronto; Journalism Certification from Humber College and her B.A. from Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. Marie enjoyed a successful career as an Addictions Counsellor in Kitchener, Ontario. She later moved to Saint John, New Brunswick where she was one of the first to receive distinction as a Licensed Mediator in the Family Court systems. During her career Marie gained the reputation of a “small but mighty” advocate for her clients and many were inspired by her loving and caring manner as she touched their lives. The friendsthat she gained over her lifetime were many and she always stayed in close and loving contact with them.
Marie was a charming and engaging storyteller and the life of any party or family gathering with her lighthearted personality and the sparkle in her eyes; she was definitely thechatterbox of the family and her daughter, adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews and children in general were excited and enthralled with the tales she would tell and the stories she would read.
Marie was an artist and accomplished photographer and she painted many pictures of her family and scenes from around her family home in Holtville where she was born and where she lived her final years. She was a creative gardener and enjoyed the opening of each new bud and the way the light, wind and rain touched their petals. She loved to read. She loved to discuss things and expound her theories and beliefs. She loved to decorate her family home and make all things beautiful. She loved her life.
Marie’s daughter and grandchildren were the compass points of her life and her love will sustain them and her family and friends through the years of their lives. The memory of Marie will bring a smile to our faces and joy to our hearts forever.
Family and friends are welcome to visit with Marie’s daughter Kate, granddaughter Kaitlin and her sisters at the family home at 717 Holtville Road, Northumberland County NB (at the last homey house on the road…) on Friday, June 27th from 1pm-4pm. Donations to NB Lung will be much appreciated.

In Loving Memory
Marie Warner
