Obituary of Diane Margaret Fraser

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Margaret Fraser of Fredericton, NB, on June 5, 2025 at Shannex, Neill Pavilion. Born on August 28, 1946 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gartley and Irene Clark, and the wife of the late Douglas Fraser.

Diane and Doug were married for 41 years before his passing. They enjoyed socializing, playing cards and making each other laugh. In their later years, they traveled around by motorcycle and spent time by the ocean in their Sarasota getaway.

Most of all, Di loved being a mom. She loved her children dearly and was so very proud of them. Diane was an active participant in her children’s lives, from fundraising for Characters Incorporated to volunteering as a Sparks leader. She never missed a practice, a game or a performance and no one was a louder cheerleader. She loved to sit outside on the back deck and watch for her beloved herons visiting the stream. A huge lover of animals, she had names for all the squirrels in the neighbourhood, and made sure they always had peanuts.

Diane was a wonderful “Mimi” to her grandbabies. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and always looked forward to their visits. We are so thankful for the time they had with her.

Diane will be dearly missed by her children, Erica Currie-Fraser (Andrew Waugh), Brittany Strickland (Herb), Tyler Lang (Colin) and Scott Oakes (Sarah); brother Gordon Clarke (Jean); grandchildren Garrett, Landon, Clark, Sullivan and Reid; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 2 - 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital, in Diane’s memory. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
