Obituary of Gail Francis Norrad

The family of Gail Francis (Hickey) Norrad of Bloomfield Ridge, NB, wife of Darrel Robert Norrad, announce her sudden passing on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Born on October 11, 1945 in Woodstock, NB, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marguerite (Harris) Hickey. Gail graduated from South Hampton High School. She was a life member of the Women’s Institute and past secretary of the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home Board. She enjoyed genealogy and was thrilled to find connections as far back as 69 AD, and the Harris family line going through the arrival to New Brunswick on the United Empire Loyalist in 1783. She also found family connections with Edward the III, King of England, Henry the II, King of England and Charlemagne, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Gail worked for the Provincial Government with Natural Resources and the Canadian Pacific Railroad. She was a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her loving husband of 59 years as of May 21, Gail is survived by her son, Steven Norrad (Sherry Storey) of Bloomfield Ridge, NB; daughter, Sandra Gorman (Brad) of Maple Ridge, NB; grandchildren, Chenise Norrad (Kaley Etheridge), Patrick Norrad, Kaio Norrad and Sadie Norrad; one great-grandson, Peter; sister, Marion Chase of Woodstock, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Gail was predeceased by her brothers, Jack Hickey and Earl Hickey; sister, Gladys Morehouse.

Visitation will take place at Ridgeway Baptist Church, 3133 Route 625, Boiestown, NB on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm. The funeral will take place at Ridgeway Baptist Church on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 2 pm with Pastor Rick Bruce officiating. Interment will take place in Cameron Hill Cemetery, Holtville, NB following the service.
