Obituary of Robert George Hicks

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) George Hicks, with his family by his side, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the age of 77.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (DeSaulniers) of 58 years; his cherished children, Bob Jr. (Michelle), Angela DuPlessis and Steven (Angela); super proud Papa to Amy Lynn, Noah (Haley), Grace and Sophia; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor (Ellie); as well as sisters, Deanna (Walter) Brown, Betty Hicks, Andrea (Peter) Randall; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Grace (Peterson) Hicks; brother, Donnie; sister, Jocelyn and son-in-law, Herb DuPlessis.

Bob was proud to be a 50+ year member of IBEW Local 2166. During his electrical career he travelled all across Canada and the US and was blessed by the many friendships formed during his career. Bob was a long-time member of Marysville Legion Branch #15. Bob was a loyal fan of the NY Yankees, Detroit Red Wings and New England Patriots. Many years were spent at Royals Field where he coached at various levels. Bob loved playing crib, darts and pool. He spent many happy years camping at Mill Cove, Grand Lake, with his very best friends Bob and Ruth Marshall. In Bob’s later years he so enjoyed touring Fredericton on his “red scooter”. He enjoyed sharing stories, no matter who was listening he could always make you laugh.

Bob’s life revolved around his family, he cherished visits from his grand-children and great granddaughter, as they were his world.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of 4W and the Palliative Care Unit at the DECRH for their care during his stay.

There will be no visitation or service at the wishes of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greener Village (Fredericton Community Services Inc.) Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
