Obituary of Kimberly Krista Pond

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Kimberly Krista Pond, announce her passing. Kim passed peacefully at her home on Monday, May 26, 2025 surrounded by family after a long and hard-fought battle. She was 61 years old.

Kim was born on July 23, 1963, in Fredericton, New Brunswick to the late Gerald and Rowena Currie (White). She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, John Pond; her children, Jessica (Sam), Gerald, and Travis (Matt); her precious granddaughter, Chloe Knox; sister Katherine (Glenn) Martin; several special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents, Kim was predeceased by her grandparents, James and Hazel White (Brewer), Fred and Cecilia Currie (Cordery); stepfather, John Couturier; in-laws, Robert and Bonita Pond (Young); brothers-in-law, Christopher and Robert Pond; and several aunts and uncles.

Kim worked as a credit investigator for the retail branch of AVCO Financial in Fredericton, for approximately five years. She found joy in her work and made numerous lifetime friends. She loved to laugh and was always ready to embrace a good party with her favourite playlist and cherished friends. Kim had a remarkable ability to find beauty in life’s simplest things. Kim loved her coffee and always had a Tim Hortons cup in her hand.

She was known for her love of sewing and quilting (which she always did with such precision and detail), and dedication to maintaining an organized and tidy home.

Kim wore many hats throughout her life but some of her favorites were Nanny, Mom, Sister, and Auntie.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have had her in their lives, in all capacities.

The family of Kim Pond would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the DECH, particularly those in the Emergency Department and Palliative Care; special thanks to her favourite nurse, Emalee. We would like to extend special thanks to Extra Mural New Brunswick for their exceptional and unwavering compassionate care in Kim’s final days.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB from 6-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 2 pm from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Pastor Chris Walker officiating. The service will also be available at www.yorkfh.com (Link at top of the obituary). Honorary Pallbearers will be, Jessica Pond, Katherine Martin, Jeffrey Martin, Riley Martin, Mallory Martin, Lori Hughes, Travis Pond and Gerald Pond.
