Obituary of Laurie Joanne Moir

Please share a memory of Laurie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we must announce the unexpected passing of Laurie Joanne Moir. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister; Laurie passed away after a brief illness on May 22, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born on August 13, 1957, Laurie lived a life rooted in love, nature, and simple joys. She found her greatest happiness outdoors - tending to her gardens, watching birds in the quiet morning hours, and walking the beaches in search of sea glass with her daughters, Jessica and Allison. Her deep appreciation for the natural world was a gift she shared generously with those she loved. Laurie’s legacy lives on in the beauty she cultivated in her gardens, the sea glass treasures found by the shore, and in the hearts of her family and friends who will forever carry her memory.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Moir; her daughters Jessica, and Allison (Gaelen); her cherished mother, Elizabeth Foster; and her sister, Beth Foster (Randy). Her grandsons, Connor and Finley, were the light of her life, and she took great joy in watching them grow. Her kindness, humor, and warm spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her father, Stewart Foster, and her brother, Richard Foster.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nursing and support staff of 4SW, ICU and transitional care ER at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Your kindness, compassion, and exceptional care will never be forgotten.

A private family celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Atlantic Wildlife Institute.
