Obituary of Shirley Anne Ross

Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Anne Ross of Boiestown, NB, occurred Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 16, 1945, she was the daughter of the late James and Evelyn (MacDonald) Doak.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Irvine Ross, Shirley is survived by her children, Grant Ross (Tammy) and Natalie McDonald (Darren) both of Boiestown; grandchildren, Keefer Ross (Alexandra) of Fredericton, Hillary Ross of Australia and Megan McDonald (Kye) of Boiestown; great grandchildren, Leo Ross, Henry Ross, Sophia Ross, Remi Reichard and Riley Chaytor; siblings, James Doak Jr. (Iris), Corinne Taylor (Robert), Joyce Pollard (Calvin), Louise Carr (Robert), Kendall Doak (Norma), Cynthia Norrad (Mont), and Sheree Burgess (Keith); several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her infant sister, Juanita.

Shirley loved the outdoors and spent countless hours on her amazing flower gardens and vegetable garden. She also loved discussing her gardens and showing them. Her outdoor activities also included walking, biking, and cross-country skiing. She loved doing these activities with her friend and neighbor, Pauline Merrill, and daughter, Natalie.

Shirley loved to cook and bake. Those who knew her will recall the aroma of the freshly baked bread, rolls, and doughnuts; as well as the signature Scotch Cookies (mainly reserved for Christmas).

Shirley loved seeing the pictures and hearing about the adventures from Australia. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren coming to visit.

Of most importance to Shirley was family; her world revolved around them. She always greeted family and friends with the biggest of smiles and loved visitors. Shirley’s last days were spent with family by her side.

Shirley worked for the Provincial Government in Fredericton in her early years then went on to work with the District School Board office.

Shirley and her husband Irvine did some traveling and travelled to places such as Newfoundland, Boat Cruise to Alaska and drove Alaskan Highway, and several trips to Western Canada, along with Atlantic Provinces and Eastern U.S.

A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
